Medak: A 23-year-old woman allegedly murdered her two-year-old daughter and eloped with her paramour on Friday.
Police said the child’s decomposed body was exhumed from the woman’s native village after her confession.
History of elopements
The accused had earlier eloped with her paramour in March but returned home within days. Following objections from her husband, she started living with her parents. In May, she once again left with the same man, abandoning her five-year-old son in her parents’ care.
Complaint leads to arrest
The woman’s father lodged a complaint after her second disappearance. Acting on the complaint, police traced the couple to Narasaraopet in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and brought them back to Medak for questioning.
Confession of crime
During interrogation, the woman allegedly admitted that she and her lover killed the toddler, describing the child as an “inconvenience” to their relationship. Police later recovered the buried body as per legal procedures.
Criminal background
Investigators disclosed that the woman’s lover has several criminal cases pending against him. Both accused are currently in custody and will be produced before the court on Saturday.
