Medak: SI held for asking Rs 20,000 bribe for releasing vehicle; journalist held as accomplice
The two accused are Karre Anand Goud and Mohammad Mastan, who is a journalist.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 8 July 2024 1:26 PM GMTHyderabad: On Monday, the sub-inspector of the Haveli Ghanpur Police Station in Medak District was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. The accused has been identified as Karre Anand Goud. Another accused has also been identified as Mohammad Mastan, who is a journalist.
According to case details, Karre Anand Goud demanded a bribe using Mastan as the courier. The complainant told the police that Anand Goud asked for a bribe to release the tipper vehicle of the complainant from the police station.
The bribe amount of Rs 20,000 was recovered from the possession of Mastan at his instance and the fingers of both hands and the front left side pocket of the pants tested positive in a chemical test. Thus, the accused officer performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage through Mastan, the police said. Both were arrested and produced before the addl special judge for SPE and ACB cases court here. The case is under further investigation.
The police urge the public to call 1064 (toll-free number) to report any public servant asking for a bribe.
