Hyderabad, December 14: A 28-year-old man was killed when an inebriated driver rammed his Tata Ace vehicle into the parked auto trolly near Shivalayam Goshala in the Medchal district.

The victim was identified as Shaik Hussain, 28, a resident of Hassan Nagar in Rajendranagar.

The accident occurred near Shivalayam Goshala, opposite IDPL Company in Balanagar. The driver of the Tata Ace vehicle Muduvath Mohan was found to be under the influence of alcohol.


Mohan, 19, a resident of Raju Colony in Balanagar was arrested and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. On December 13, Pradeep, 20, also a resident of Raju Colony in was arrested and remanded to judicial custody for a period of 14 days. It was also found out that Mohan didn't possess a valid driving licence.

Both Mohan and Pradeep had consumed alcohol together. Reportedly, Pradeep also provoked Mohan to consume excess alcohol.

A case is registered under sections 304-II IPC and Sec 185 (A), 187 of Motor Vehicles Act by Balanagar PS, Cyberabad and is under investigation. Mohan and co-passenger Pradeep Kumar Das were booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.


According to the Cyberabad Police, drunken driving has been one of the major causes of road accidents and fatalities in Cyberabad.

Cyberabad Police have been taking stringent legal action against violators. The persons who consume alcohol together and allow one of them to drive will also be prosecuted for the abetment of the crime, police said.

Cyberabad Traffic Police also appealed to the public to introspect and behave responsibly while driving. The citizens were asked not to encourage drunken driving.
