Medchal: Woman, lover gets life sentence for murder of husband

Hyderabad: A Medchal court on Monday sentenced two persons, including a woman, to life imprisonment for the murder of a 36-year-old man in 2020. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 3,000 each against the two.

On 9 April 2020, Mahankali Suresh had filed a complaint stating that his brother Mahankali Krishna had been murdered. A case was registered at the Medchal police station. During the course of their investigation, the police found that Gunti Balraj (24) had bought Mahankali Krishna's auto in 2014 and since then, he would often visit the man's home. Meanwhile, Balraj and Krishna's wife Laxmi had started an affair and the two had hatched a plan to kill Krishna.

Balraj ordered sleeping pills from Flipkart and Laxmi mixed them in toddy and gave it to Krishna on 17, 19, and 22 March 2020. However, nothing happened to Krishna.

On the evening of 8 April, Balraj came to the house and found Krishna asleep. He and Laxmi went to another room. At about 11:15 p.m, Krishna woke up and noticed the two trying to leave the house. There was a tussle and the two strangled Krishna to death with a wire.

On Monday, the court convicted them for Krishna's murder and sentence them to life imprisonment.
