Hyderabad: The Ranga Reddy Enforcement Team on Tuesday arrested a medical representative for allegedly storing and selling banned cough syrups and Alprazolam tablets, substances controlled under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Seizure at Munganoor village
The accused, identified as Jall Naresh, was caught at his residence in Munganoor village, Ranga Reddy district, under the Hyderabad Excise Station jurisdiction.
Officials seized 714 bottles of cough syrup prohibited by the Drug Control India authorities and 130 Alprazolam tablets, which fall under the NDPS regulations.
AES Jeevan Kiran of the Ranga Reddy Enforcement Team stated that the seized Alprazolam tablets weighed a total of 26 grams.
Covert operation by the enforcement team
The raid was conducted discreetly to prevent suspicion. The team, comprising AES Jeevan Kiran, CI Subash Chander, and SI Akhil, carried out the operation and secured the contraband.
Handover and official commendation
Following the seizure, the accused, along with the drugs and tablets, was handed over to the Hyderabad Excise Station for further investigation.
The Enforcement Team received commendation from Director Shahnawaz Qasim and Ranga Reddy Assistant Commissioner R Kishan for their successful operation against the illegal distribution of controlled substances.
