Medipally police nab temple robbers, recover Rs. 40,000 cash

Hyderabad: The Medipally police of Rachakonda police commissionerate, on 23 November, arrested two persons who stole money from temple hundis. The police recovered cash worth Rs. 40,000 and a motorcycle.

The two have been identified as Dasari Mahesh (19) and Mohammud Sameer (20), both residents of Nagarkurnool. Two minor boys helped the duo rob the temples. One of the arrested, Sameer, was involved in another case registered at Medipally station.

According to the police, Mahesh, Sameer, and the minors lived in the same locality in Achampet and were childhood friends. They got involved in criminal activities to support their drinking and smoking habits. The gang would break into temples at night and rob the hundi collection. They have robbed six temples in the Nagarkurnool, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda areas.

On Monday, the police noticed the gang moving under suspicious circumstances at Veerareddy crossroads in Boduppal. They were taken into custody and during questioning, they confessed that they had been involved in robbing temples.
