The Meerpet police arrested a brother-sister duo on Monday for the murder of a 40-year-old man earlier this month.

Sabavath Saroja (30) and Jaruplavath Srinu (21) of Jillelaguda under Balapur mandal in Ranga Reddy district had murdered Kodavath Redya, the police said.
The victim, Kodavath, was married to Srinu and Saroja's sister Lakshmi. He visited Saroja's home often and quarreled with her over petty issues. Srinu had threatened to kill his brother-in-law if he visited his sister again.
On 2 December, a drunk Kodavath went to Saroja's house and created a nuisance. Fed up with his behavior, the duo attacked him with a wooden roti roller. Kodavath received a serious head injury and became unconscious. The next morning, Srinu and Saroja admitted him to Naveena hospital at Hasthinapuram and informed his family. The man was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital. He died while undergoing treatment on 5 December.
Saroja and Srinu were arrested on Monday at their residence and brought to Meerpet police station. They admitted to committing the murder during interrogation.
