Shocker: Mentally-ill man hacks mother to death at Sultan Bazaar

Hyderabad: A 21-year-old youth allegedly killed his mother after she scolded him for working out in the early hours at Ram Koti in Sultan Bazaar on Monday.

The victim was identified as a 45-year-old woman Konda Papamma. She was murdered by her son when she objected to him doing exercise in the Ramkote area under Sultan Bazar police station early on Monday.

According to the Sultan Bazaar police, accused Konda Sudheer Kumar, 21, was doing a workout at around 2.30 am. When his mother Papamma allegedly scolded and asked him to go to sleep, Sudhir instantly attacked her with a dumbbell. She suffered a head injury and died on the spot.

His sister, Suchitra, who sustained injuries in the incident, is out of danger now, said police.

According to police, Sudheer is mentally unsound and has been on treatment.

Sudheer has been staying with his mother and sister after his father Ramesh died of ill health seven years ago. Papamma was working as domestic help and Suchitra as a salesgirl in a garment store. Sudheer, after completing graduation, worked as a delivery agent for a food delivery platform. He was fired from the job because he was mentally ill.
