Visakhapatnam: Three men allegedly raped their fellow worker's 20-year-old mentally challenged daughter in the Old Gajuwaka area under Gajuwaka police station limits in Visakhapatnam. Though the heinous crime took place on Friday, it came to light only on Saturday morning.

The victim's mother, in her complaint, stated that the incident occurred on Friday when she and her husband were away for work and their younger daughter was in college. Her elder daughter, a mentally ill patient, was home.

The girl often used to visit their neighbor's house and on Friday, too, she went to their house. The neighbour and two other men took the girl to Old Gajuwaka and allegedly raped her. The parents returned home in the evening and found their daughter bleeding. The mother realised that her daughter had been brutally gang-raped and lodged a complaint with the Gajuwaka police.

The Gajuwaka police said the preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were employees of an automobile showroom where the victim's father also worked. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC. It has been transferred to the Disha police station in Vizag city for further investigation.

The police launched a manhunt for the accused persons and the victim was admitted to King George Hospital in Vizag city for medical tests.
