Visakhapatnam: A 12-year-old boy died and more than 10 people were injured after an Avanthi Engineering College bus rammed many vehicles on the National Highway near Baiyavaram in Anakapalli district.

The incident happened under Kasimkota police station limits on Friday morning when the speeding bus lost control and hit three bikes, a food van (tiffin centre) parked on the service road and a car. The bus hit the pedestrians who were eating at the food cart.


The deceased boy Ghouse Mohinuddin celebrated Ramzan on April 11. The incident happened when the boy along with his family was travelling towards Pithapuram and stopped at the tiffin centre

Immediately, the injured were admitted to two separate hospitals – NTR government hospital and Ushasri Multi speciality hospital. A case has been booked against the driver and further investigation is on.

Anakapalli MP candidate CM Rames visited the hospital and spoke to the injured. He alleged the government’s negligence of not responding to the issue immediately.

Chairman of Avanthi Educational Institutions Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, popularly known as Avanthi Srinivas, is the current YSRCP MLA candidate from the Bheemili Assembly constituency.
