Missing head of Lord Rama's idol found in lake at Ramateertham village
By Newsmeter Network Published on 31 Dec 2020 5:45 AM GMTVizianagaram:People heaved a sigh of relief after villagers found the head of a 400-year-old idol of Lord Rama in a lake at Ramateertham village on Wednesday morning.
It may be recalled that some miscreants vandalized the idol Lord Rama, the sitting deity of Sri Kodanda Ramaswamy temple in Ramateertham village in Nellimerla Mandal of Vizianagaram district in the early hours of Tuesday.
Tension gripped the area with TDP and BJP leaders besides Sadhu Parishat staging protests. BJP leaders staged dharna through the night. TDP leaders blamed the government for failing to protect the temples in the state.
Opposition leaders said that there was no safety and security for Hindu temples in Andhra Pradesh.
Taking strong note of the incident, the government appointed D.Bhramaramba, regional joint director of endowments, as inquiry officer. SP B.Rajakumari visited the temple and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
On Wednesday, the head of the idol was found in a lake near the village by the local people. Police are now focusing on the miscreants involved in the incident. Special teams have been formed to nab the accused.
