Mystery shrouds death of woman in Vijayawada, cops suspect hit-and-run

Vijayawada: An unidentified woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Sikhamani Centre road in Vijayawada on Sunday night. The police suspect that she may have been killed in a hit-and-run accident.

According to Machavaram police's preliminary investigation, the woman, who might be around 30 years old, had a severe head injury and a broken leg and hand. The night patrol police found her and immediately shifted the body for post-mortem.

With no missing cases registered in the city, the police are trying to find clues to see what may have happened. As part of the investigation, they are checking CCTV footage. They are yet to ascertain the woman's identity.

A case has been registered by the Machavaram police and an investigation is on. All the police stations in the city have been directed to immediately report any missing cases filed.
