NAAC rating bribery case: CBI arrests 10 including top officials of Guntur's KLEF, Hyderabad's KL University

By Newsmeter Network Published on 2 Feb 2025 1:48 PM ISTGuntur: Sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended 10 Accused including NAAC team members and office bearers of Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation (KLEF) in Guntur, and KL University, Hyderabad campus, in case of bribery for favourable NAAC rating.
CBI registered a case against the office bearers of Vaddeswaram, Guntur, (Andhra Pradesh) based educational foundation and the NAAC Inspection Team members in connection with paying undue advantage to the accused public servants for favourable NAAC ratings for A++ accreditation.
KLEF Vice-Chancellor GP Saradhi Varma, Vice-President Koneru Raja Hareen, Director of KL University (Hyderabad Campus) A Ramakrishna, NAAC Inspection Committee Chairman and Vice-Chancellor of Ramchandra Chandravansi University Samarendra Nath Saha, Member Coordinator and Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University Rajeev Sijariya, NAAC Inspection Committee Member and Dean at Bharath Institute of Law Dr D Gopal were arrested the by CBI on Saturday.
The CBI carried out search operation after registration of the case and apprehended 10 accused persons in connection with the case and recovered alleged undue advantage paid to the NAAC Inspection Team members by the office bearers of said educational foundation, in the form of cash, gold, mobile phones, laptops etc.
Searches are being conducted at 20 locations across India at Chennai, Bangalore, Vijaywada, Palamu, Sambalpur, Bhopal, Bilaspur, Gautam Budh Nagar and New Delhi. An amount of Rs. 37 lacs cash (aprrox), 6 Lenovo Laptops, One Iphone 16 Pro mobile phone, etc, and other incriminating articles have been recovered.
The investigation is continuing.
