Nagarkurnool tahsildar arrested for corruption; middleman burns Rs 5L bribe money

Hyderabad: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) nabbed tahsildar of Veladada of Nagarkurnool district for accepting Rs 5 lakh bribe through a middleman on Tuesday.

The middleman identified as Venkataiah Goud was also arrested. He had tried to burn the money when the ACB officials entered the room.

Saidulu had demanded the bribe to issue a no-objection certificate so that the mines and geology department grants a quarry lease licence to complainant Ramavath Ramulu.

Ramulu lodged a complaint with the ACB. ACB officials laid a trap for the middleman Venkataiah Goud at his residence.

When ACB officials tried to enter the room, Venkataiah Goud bolted the door from inside and burnt the bribe amount on the gas stove in the kitchen. However, officials immediately swung into action and nabbed Goud and recovered partially burnt currency notes.

"The accused officer performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain the undue advantage through Venkataiah Goud," ACB said.
