Nalgonda hospital superintendent caught red-handed taking Rs 3 lakh bribe

Nalgonda: ACB (Anti-Corruption Beurue) officials caught Dr L Latchu, superintendent of the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Nalgonda, red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakhs in return for an official favour.

The case came to light when the complainant Rapolu Venkanna, a resident of Srinagar Colony, Nalgonda town, approached Dr Latchu for work. Venkanna told the ACB that Dr Latchu demanded a bribe to ‘not to call tenders for non-tender products and to continue the orders issued on March 16, 2023, for the supply of non-tender products on a discount i.e. 10 per cent for surgical items and 6 per cent for drugs on MRP and for allowing the complainant to supply the same.’

The bribe amount was recovered from the possession of the superintendent. Fingers on both hands of the superintendent who came into contact with the tainted bribe amount yielded positive results in the chemical test used by officials to confirm guilt.

Hence it was determined that the superintendent did not perform his duty properly and has dishonestly tried to obtain undue advantage of his position by asking a bribe for official work. Dr L Latchu was arrested and produced before the First Addl. Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases Court in Nampally, Hyderabad. The case is under investigation
