Nalgonda murder case: Six held while fleeing to dispose of stolen goods

Hyderabad: Kanagal police in Nalgonda have made a breakthrough in the sensational murder case with the arrest of six persons.

The accused have been identified as Nagabandi Madhu, Kamma Srinivasa Rao, Yalla Krishna Chaitanya, Saladi Manikanta, Adapa Hari Kiran, Md. Usman and Shaik Basha. Except for Madhu, who is a Nalgonda native, the rest are from Andhra Pradesh.

Case details

The case came to light on May 19 after Patteti Asha, the panchayat secretary in Kanagal filed a complaint on the suspicious death of Samudrala Krishna alias Krishna Bhagavan. The investigation revealed that the deceased brother-in-law Nagabandi Madhu was behind the death.

The police said that Madhu, along with the other accused, killed the deceased Samudrala Krishna for money. The deceased was living alone and was financially rich. He used to flaunt his wealth by wearing gold and silver ornaments and carrying large amounts of cash in public.

Madhu lost a lot of money for procuring a rice puller ā€“ a copper pot said to have divine powers ā€“ from the deceased and had borrowed lakhs for the purpose. When he asked Krishna to pay back the money, he was denied.

Hence, Madhu sought the help of others to kill Krishna and steal his money. He told others Krishna is rich and has 1 kg of gold and a huge amount of cash at home and promised them a share of it.

According to their plan, Madhu took cyanide from Usman and went to Krishnaā€™s house on April 16 along with the rest. They entered the house on the pretext of discussing nursery business and suddenly attacked him.

They Krishna by smothering him and also by forcibly pouring cyanide into his mouth with the help of a cloth. After confirming his death, Madhu and the rest stole the 7.4 thulas of gold ornaments, half kg silver ornaments which included waist thread and leg chains, and Rs 45,000 in cash. They also took out the video from the CC cameras to erase all evidence.

They transported the body in a Brezza car that belonged to the deceased threw away the corpse at Kanagal bridge and fled way along with the stolen goods. The accused also threw away the DVR/monitor of CC cameras, the deceasedā€™s mobile phone, an empty pepper spray bottle, cable wire, gloves and cutter into Krishna River at Wadapally. They sold the gold ornaments for Rs 3 lakhs and shared said Rs 60,000 among themselves.

On Saturday, the police officials arrested the accused persons at Marriguda bypass road in Nalgonda while they were travelling towards Hyderabad from Guntur for disposal of stolen property. The rest were arrested based on the confessions of the others.
