NEET agency Eduvio in Ameerpet booked for collecting Rs 13.9 lakh on false promise of MBBS seat

Hyderabad: Madhura Nagar police have registered a case following a complaint by a city-based doctor who alleged that a private NEET counselling agency collected almost Rs 13.9 lakh on the promise of securing an MBBS seat for her son but failed to do so.

What is the case about?

According to the police, Dr Kattamuri Laxmi (44), a gynaecologist residing at Tirumala Hills, Malakpet, stated in her complaint that she came across an advertisement for medical counselling services for her son on Facebook on October 27, 2025.

She later approached Eduvio Operations Centre, Unit 907, located at Vasavi MPM Grand, Ameerpet.

The complainant alleged that the firm entered into a service agreement and collected Rs 5 lakh, assuring her that the amount would be refunded within 45 days if an admission for her son was not secured.

Subsequently, representatives of the company reportedly informed her that a seat had been arranged at Kamineni Medical College, LB Nagar, and asked her to pay the college fee at their office.

Believing the assurance, she paid a total of Rs 13.9 lakh towards the purported fee, including Rs 8 lakh through bank transfer and Rs 5.9 lakh in cash.

She later discovered that the admission had not been secured and that the allotment letter provided to her was allegedly fake. When she sought a refund, the firm is said to have postponed the matter, citing holidays and other reasons.

During a later visit, she reportedly found the office closed, with a notice stating, ‘Temporarily Closed’.

‘Parents cheated out of Rs 1 crore’

In her complaint, Dr Laxmi named certain persons associated with the firm and sought action against them for the recovery of the money. She further stated that parents from various States across the country have been cheated similarly, with the total amount involved exceeding Rs 1 crore.

Based on the complaint, police on Wednesday registered a case against Operational Director Aditya, Director KV Rao and others under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is in progress.
