NIA arrests Jangaon man for supporting, promoting activities of banned outfit CPM

Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested a 64-year-old man from Jangaon district of Telangana for allegedly supporting and promoting the activities of the banned terrorist organisation CPI (Maoist).

Arrest details

The accused, identified as Gade Innaiah alias Gade Inna Reddy (64), a resident of Regadi Thanda village in Zaffergadh mandal of Jangaon district, was arrested at 11 am on December 21 at Maa Illu Prajadharana Ashramam in the same village.

The arrest was made by Kaki Rahul Teja, Deputy Superintendent of Police, NIA Hyderabad, in the presence of two government officials from the Tahsildar’s office, Jangaon, who acted as witnesses.

Accused spoke at funeral of CCM cadre of CPM

According to the NIA, investigations revealed that the accused had addressed a gathering during the funeral of Katha Ramachandra Reddy alias Vikalp, a deceased Central Committee Member (CCM) cadre of CPI (Maoist).

During his speech, the accused allegedly encouraged support for the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation, expressed intent to further the activities of the outlawed group, and incited the gathering to engage in unlawful activities and continue the Maoist revolution.

NIA statement

The agency stated that the speech amounted to open advocacy and support for a terrorist organisation, attracting provisions of the UAPA. The grounds of arrest were formally communicated to the accused at the time of detention. Further investigation into the case is underway, the NIA added.

The NIA has registered a case RC-04/2025/NIA/HYD under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 13 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
