NIA files supplementary chargesheet into murders of Kidari Sarveswara Rao, Siveri Soma
By Newsmeter Network Published on 11 Jun 2021 1:15 PM GMTHyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a supplementary chargesheet on Friday in the murders of Kidari Sarveswara Rao, MLA of Araku in Andhra Pradesh, and Siveri Soma, ex-MLA, by the banned Maoist party, CPI(Maoist). The incident occurred at Livitiputtu Village of Dumbriguda mandal, Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh on 23 September, 2018.
The chargesheet filed in the NIA special court at Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh charged an area committee member of CPI(M) Sake Kalavathi alias Bhavani under sections 120 Br/w 302 IPC, sections 18, 20, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and Section 25(1A) of the Arms Act.
The case was originally registered at the Dumbriguda police station in Visakhapatnam. Later, the NIA had re-registered the case on 6 December, 2018 and took up investigation. After investigation, the chargesheets were filed by the NIA against nine persons.
The investigation, so far, has revealed that Sake Kalavathi alias Bhavani had joined the proscribed terrorist organisation CPI (Maoist) twenty years ago and was an area committee member of the organisation at the time of her arrest. She is the wife of Kakuri Peddanna, a state zonal committee member of CPI(Maoist). She, along with her husband and other co-accused was part of a 40-member team that was camping in Dumbriguda fifteen days prior to the incident.
Kalavathi alias Bhavani was an armed cadre of CPI(Maoist) and carried INSAS Rifle and was instrumental in providing logistics support to the team that carried out the murders of Sarveswara Rao and Siveri Soma. Further investigation in the case continues, the NIA said.
