The accused was earlier arrested by Narayanguda and Panjagutta police. He was convicted in many cases but he did not change his way. After his release from jail, he again started burgling houses.

Notorious burglar from West Bengal detained under PD Act in Rachakonda

Hyderabad: Police on Monday detained a notorious criminal who was involved in 55 house burglaries and thefts in Rachakonda and Hyderabad.

Identified as 39-year-old Shaik Jameed alias Jammi, he is originally from West Bengal.

Shaik came to Hyderabad in 2000 to eke out a living. However, he took to crime in 2002 and resorted to stealing to meet his expenses.

The accused was earlier arrested by Narayanguda and Panjagutta police. He was convicted in many cases but he did not change his way. After his release from jail, he again started burgling houses.

The accused was detained under Preventive Detention (PD) Act twice in 2015 and 2018.

In July 2021, the accused was arrested by Malkajgiri police for two burglaries.

On Monday, Rachakonda police again detained him under PD Act and sent him to Central Prison at Cherlapally.
