Notorious house burglar who committed 43 burglaries arrested by Vanasthalipuram police

Hyderabad: The Vanasthalipuram police of Rachakonda commissionerate apprehended the notorious house burglar, Muchu Ambedkar, on 31 March. The 50-year-old had committed 43 burglaries between 2016 and 2022. The police recovered items worth Rs. 1.3 crore from him, including 230 tolas of gold ornaments, 10.2 kg of silver ornaments, and cash Rs. 15,300.

The arrest was made after a burglary case was filed on 17 March.

The police found that the accused had a peculiar habit of storing the stolen booty at his home. He had stopped selling the booty in fear of getting nabbed by the police through the receivers. If he needed money, he used to get a gold loan from various banks or through private financers.

Thirty years ago, the accused had committed house burglaries and was arrested by the Karkhana police and sent to jail. In 1991, he had committed four house burglaries within the limits of Lalaguda police station and was arrested. After his release from jail, he continued to commit house burglaries in Karnataka. He was arrested for four house burglary offenses in the limits of Chikpet police station in Karnataka and was sent to jail. He was released on bail after four months.

Later, he committed burglaries within the limits of the OU police station in Hyderabad and was arrested. He was sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for three months. He has committed 43 house burglaries between 2016 and 2022.

According to the police, the accused identified a house and gained entry through the kitchen backdoor or windows. He then decamped with gold, silver, and cash.
