Notorious red sanders smuggler detained under PD Act in Kadapa

Sandeep, a resident of Chitloor village under Ramapuram mandal in Annamayya district, has been smuggling red sanders for the past three years. Seven cases have been registered against him across the Kadapa district. He has contacts with international and interstate red sanders smugglers of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the police said.

Notorious red sanders smuggler detained under PD Act in Kadapa

Hyderabad: The Kadapa police on Tuesday invoked the Preventive Detention Act against notorious red sanders smuggler Bogapathi Sandeep.

Kadapa superintendent of police K.K.N Anburajan warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in red sanders smuggling.

Sandeep, a resident of Chitloor village under Ramapuram mandal in Annamayya district, has been smuggling red sanders for the past three years. Seven cases have been registered against him across the Kadapa district. He has contacts with international and interstate red sanders smugglers of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the police said.

He roped in woodcutters from Tamil Nadu to fell logs inside the Seshachalam forests and other reserve forests. He then smuggled the logs to other states from where they were exported.

On the recommendation of SP Anburajan, district collector V. Vijayaramaraju issued orders to detain Sandeep
