Police have arrested two youth for allegedly murdering a 70-year-old man in a village under Nuzvid police station limits in the Krishna district.

Vijayawada: Police have arrested two youth for allegedly murdering a 70-year-old man in a village under Nuzvid police station limits in the Krishna district.

The accused have been identified as J Venkata Varaprasad and his friend V Prem Kumar.

Nuzvid DSP B Sreenivasulu said a 70- year-old man J Adam was killed by his grandson Varaprasad by smothering him with a pillow on December 11. Later, with the help of his friend Prem Kumar, they stole around 100 gms of gold and some cash from the house.

Based on the information, the police reached the crime scene and collected some clues.

Police said that they managed to identify the accused based on the clues gathered from the crime scene and inquiries from relatives of the victim.

"Our investigation has revealed that Varaprasad was having a property dispute with Adam. He used to have an altercation with him quite often. We searched Varaprasad friend's Kumar house premises and found the stolen gold and cash," he said.

Varaprasad and Kumar have been booked in a murder at Nuzvid. Further investigation is still on,
