Online betting apps gang busted in SR Nagar; 8 held with Rs 29.81 lakh
According to police, the accused collected bank accounts from innocent persons, which were then linked to betting IDs

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police cracked down on an illegal online betting gang. Eight persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in operating betting apps.
The joint operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force (South Zone) and SR Nagar Police led to the seizure of 18 mobile phones, three bank passbooks, 13 ATM cards and Rs 29.81 lakh in online transactions.
Key accused on the run
Two prime accused, Rajesh and Aslam of Karimnagar, are absconding.
Police said they were the masterminds behind the racket, supplying betting apps, user IDs and mobile phones to punters on commission basis.
235 betting IDs used
The gang was operating through multiple online platforms, including Khelostar, Khelo24, Khelo Exchange, Khelo Sports and Winmatch. Investigators revealed that the group managed as many as 235 betting IDs for their operations.
The eight accused apprehended were identified as:
From Jagitial (residing in Ameerpet/Begumpet): G Vinay Kumar (23), N Sai Vardhan Goud (22), Velpula Akash, Kola Ram (23) and D Pranay (22).
From Peddapalli (residing in Pragathi Nagar/Begumpet): D Rahul (23), D Jeshwanth Teja (22) and Joda Venu Gopal (31).
Modus Operandi
According to police, the accused collected bank accounts from innocent persons, which were then linked to betting IDs.
Winnings from online betting were credited into these accounts, while the operators pocketed commissions. Many of the accused had migrated to Hyderabad for work and were lured into the illegal activity.
Case registered
The arrested men, along with seized material, were handed over to SR Nagar Police. A case has been registered under Cr. No. 681/2025, Sections 3 & 4 of the TS Gaming Act.
