Online gaming, satta betting racket busted in Madhura Nagar; 5 held

Hyderabad: Amid the ongoing crackdown on illegal online betting apps, a gang allegedly participating in international online gaming and satta betting racket from a rented flat in Sri Divya Enclave, Madhura Nagar, was busted.

The sleuths of the Commissionerā€™s Task Force, Central Zone Team along with Madhura Nagar PS staff arrested five persons running the racket where they would manipulate the gaming sites to cheat people.

The accused have been identified as Sonule Srikanth, Gurle Harish, Gurle Satish Kumar, Sonule Thirupathi and Ade Vinod. All are natives of Kagaznagar, Komaram Bheem District, Telangana.

The police seized cash worth Rs 1,55,000 from them. Their bank account had Rs 2,13,697 which was also seized.

Case details

The accused had the habit of betting through satta and matka (Sridevi, Kalyan and Milan) and other online gaming ways.

To gain easy money through online gaming and satta/matka betting, they took a flat and started a YouTube channel called Trikal Matka to trap innocent punters who have the habit of betting on international gaming sites. They would collect Rs 1,000 from each punter as a registration amount for prediction betting numbers.

The accused persons made fake videos where they would show some person pretending to win huge amounts through their betting sites. They would share this video among people encouraging them to do the same. The accused persons would accept betting amounts through online mode using UPI.

The police said that all were friends who were organising the betting through online mode and supervising the registration process of persons on their gaming sites. The gang members also opened bank accounts and obtained SIM cards in the names of poor and needy people offering them money. The accused used to control the accounts for transferring money from the persons registered.

ā€œThe accused would lure the victims by offering them nominal profits. Subsequently, when the investment from the victims would increase, they would start losing money. The gaming on the websites is manipulated by the accused,ā€ the police said.

A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
