Hyderabad: A 40-year-old resident of Charminar lost nearly Rs 27 lakh after falling prey to an elaborate cyber scam disguised as an online part-time job and investment opportunity.
The fraud, executed via Telegram, involved fake websites, bogus payment proofs, and sustained psychological pressure to extract funds.
From āEasy Commissionsā to big investments
The scam began on July 6, 2025, when the victim was contacted through Telegram with an offer for āproduct optimisationā work promising high commissions.
Transactions were routed through www.systemeofficial.com and systemeplatformservices.com. Initial small earnings were credited to the victimās account to build confidence.
The auction lot trap
Once trust was established, the fraudsters introduced an āAuction Lot Investment Scheme,ā claiming large bonuses would be paid upon task completion. The victim was added to a 55-member Telegram group named SYSTEME GROUP, where fabricated payment screenshots were regularly shared to project legitimacy.
Pressure tactics and escalating losses
The scammers soon began demanding larger deposits, warning that earlier investments would be forfeited if payments stopped. Multiple transfers were made, some from the accounts of the victimās unsuspecting family and friends, who acted only to assist.
Fraud uncovered, complaint filed
By the time the deception became apparent, the victim had lost approximately Rs 27 lakh. A complaint was filed with the Cyber Crime police through the national helpline 1930.
Authorities have cautioned people against job offers or investment opportunities received via messaging apps.
