Over 1,200 litres of ice cream seized in Musheerabad raid; factory selling adulterated product shut
Hyderabad: An illegal ice cream manufacturing unit was busted in Musheerabad and 1,252 litres of the product were seized.
The Commissioner’s Task Force teams from Khairtabad and Secunderabad zones, along with GHMC food safety officials, apprehended a person for producing and selling adulterated and unhygienic products.
In total, along with other items, goods worth Rs 1.75 lakh were confiscated during the raid.
Unlicensed unit operating in Bapuji Nagar
Acting on credible information, officials conducted a surprise inspection at Blue Bells Ice Cream in Bapuji Nagar, Musheerabad.
The unit was being operated by Pattala Ashok without a valid license.
Authorities found that the facility was engaged in large-scale production and distribution of ice creams under the false claim of being quality products, supplying them to both wholesale and retail markets.
Ice creams made with expired ingredients
During the inspection, officials discovered that expired ingredients were being used in the preparation of ice creams, posing serious health risks to consumers.
Several flavouring agents had crossed expiry dates, including pineapple, mango and custard apple flavours.
The manufacturing process was found to be highly unhygienic, with poor handling and storage practices making the products unfit for human consumption.
