Patna man who cheated Khairatabad woman of Rs. 39L in fake lottery scam arrested

On 2 October 2021, a woman from Khairatabad received a phone call. She was informed that she had won a KBC lottery of Rs. 25 lakhs. The caller gave her directions about the withdrawal procedure and advised her to first pay money for various fees.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad cyber crime police arrested a man from Patna who was duping people in name of the KBC lottery. The man has been identified as Rakesh Kumar. The police seized from him 16 mobile phones, 73 debit cards, 30 SIM cards, 11 bank passbooks, and two chequebooks.

On 2 October 2021, a woman from Khairatabad received a phone call. She was informed that she had won a KBC lottery of Rs. 25 lakhs. The caller gave her directions about the withdrawal procedure and advised her to first pay money for various fees.

Some other people posing as bank managers also called the woman and convinced her to send money. She sent a total of Rs. 39 lakhs in the name of different charges.

The cyber crime police have warned the public about such lotteries like the KBC lottery, Naaptol, or lucky draws announced by unknown persons.
