Amaravati: The Cybercrimes wing of Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested a man for threatening to assassinate Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The accused has been identified as Rajupalepu Phani, a native of Rajhamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh. He works in a private company in Hyderabad.
"On January 16, the accused in a social media post threatened to kill CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Later, fearing consequences, he immediately deleted the post and the fake Twitter account. He quit his job, switched off his mobile phone, and fled," Superintendent of Police CID Cyber Crimes GR Radhika said.
After a complaint was filed, Radhika said that the cybercrime wing arrested the accused.
In his written statement, Phani said he is a supporter of the Jana Sena Party and a fan of actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan.
The accused used the Twitter account `Kanna Bhai' to post threats.
In his post, he is a suicider bomber and would kill Jagan. "Anyone posting such remarks will be immediately arrested by the AP CID cyber crimes. Cybercrimes wing can trace the accused immediately", Radhika added.
