Police bust cricket betting racket in Hyderabad; arrest three bookies

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Task Force on Thursday arrested three bookies for organizing betting in connection with the ongoing Big Bash League cricket matches in Australia.

Police raided a gaming house at Ramkote in Sultan Bazaar and arrested the three bookies. Police seized Rs 1 lakh, mobile phones, and other material from D Abhishek, the main organizer from Sultan Bazaar, Jatin Masrane, a punter from Barkatpura, and Dinesh from Balkampet.

Police said Abhishek was organizing cricket betting clandestinely at rented premises in Sultan Bazaar with the help of a cricket bookie from Goa.

"Using cricket apps which provide online scores, ball to ball, as well as betting ratios, they collected bets from punters," said an official.
