Police foil double murder plan, arrests six in Anantapur

Anantapur: The Anantapur police foiled a murder plan and arrested six persons on 19 January. They also seized 23 crude bombs.

Anantapur police chief B. Satya Yesubabu said the arrested have been identified as E. Rajasekhar (25), D. Ramachandra (50), G. Lingaraju (30), V. Hari (27), V. Nagesh (29), and V. Nagesh (39). The six had hatched a plan to kill two key members of the rival gang and had procured 23 country bombs for the attack.

The group had planned the murder to take revenge for two murders reported at Kanaganapalli Mandal in the district in 2010 and at Kambaduru mandal in 2019.

The police said an illicit relationship had led to the murder of E. Gopal at Kanaganapalli in 2010. Chandrasekhar, Gangadhar, and a few others were the key accused in the case. The two men had also murdered E. Durgappa at Ralla Anantapur under Kambaduru mandal in 2019.

The police said that apparently upset by their deaths, Rajasekhar and Ramachandra hatched a plan to kill Chandrasekhar and Gangadhar. However, their plan was foiled by the Kalyandurg and Anantapur police.

The police are also looking to nab the people who supplied the crude bombs to the gang.
