Hyderabad: A notorious interstate burglar who committed six house burglaries was arrested from Kavadiguda in Hyderabad on Sunday. The six burglaries were committed in Gandhi Nagar in Hyderabad and Narasaraopet in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

Of the six offences, two were committed in Gandhi Nagar, three in Narasaraopet, and one in Begum Bazar.

The man has been identified as Mikkili Vamshi Krishna alias Lokesh. A car, two mobile phones, gold ornaments weighing about 190 grams, and cash Rs. 3 lakhs were seized from his possession.

On the intervening night of 24 and 25 June, a house in the limits of Gandhinagar police station was robbed. According to the complainant, G. Muralimohan of Kavadiguda in Hyderabad, Rs. 3 lakhs cash and four tolas of gold ornaments were stolen. Based on his complaint, a case was registered under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC.

Lokesh was apprehended on 4 July from Kavadiguda. During interrogation, he admitted to committing six property offences.

According to the police, Lokesh is from Vetapalem village in the Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. He completed his MBA in 2004. Earlier, he was involved in more than 200 criminal cases.

History of crimes

He was first arrested in 2006 by the Saroornagar police for six house burglary cases and remanded in jail for 18 months. He was arrested again in 2009 by the Saroornagar police for seven burglaries and remanded in jail for 20 months. Later, he was arrested by the Balanagar police for two house burglaries and remanded in jail for eight months. He was then arrested by the LB Nagar police for 13 house burglaries and remanded in jail for 21 months under conviction as well as under the PD Act. He was released on 18 August 2018.

Since his release from jail in August 2018, he has been involved in 10 house burglaries.
