Hyderabad: The Cybercrime Unit of Hyderabad City Police has warned residents about a sharp increase in credit card frauds.
Fraudsters are using phishing links, fake merchant websites, UPI/QR scams, reward-point traps, bogus customer-care numbers, and malicious apps to steal sensitive banking information.

Police said scammers are employing deceptive tactics such as fake payment portals, fraudulent helpline numbers, and bogus offers for credit-limit enhancements or card upgrades.

Card Skimming: At ATMs and POS machines
Fake Reward Calls: Offers to redeem points or rewards
SIM Swap Frauds: Intercepting OTPs to access bank accounts
How citizens can protect themselves
The advisory urged the public to remain cautious:
Avoid clicking on links in unsolicited messages or emails
Contact banks only via official websites or the customer-care numbers printed on cards
Never share OTPs, PINs, or CVV numbers over the phone or online
Install apps only from verified app stores
Monitor SMS and email transaction alerts regularly
Report suspicious activity immediately
