Rachakonda cops arrested 2 for black marketing oxygen concentrators
By Newsmeter Network Published on 18 May 2021 2:30 PM GMTHyderabad: The Rachakonda police on 17 May arrested two persons for selling oxygen concentrators in the black market and recovered two concentrators from them. The accused have been identified as Prudhvi Kalva (32) and Geedula Raja Suresh Kumar (49). Following credible information that the two were selling oxygen concentrators at high prices in AS Rao Nagar, the Kushaiguda police and SOT team, Malkajgiri, Rachakonda, apprehended the two on Monday.
The duo had purchased the oxygen concentrators for Rs. 50,000 for their family members but had not used them. They were planning to sell them for Rs. 65,000 each to needy customers.
The police said they had violated the government rules and cheated people by hiking the rates of the concentrators. They were taken into custody and their joint confession recorded in the presence of mediators.
The Rachakonda commissioner of police warned people involved in black marketing of oxygen cylinders and concentrators and said they were playing with people's lives. Such accused will be detained under the PD Act and fast-track court trial will be conducted, he said, adding punishment for such offense is seven years imprisonment under Section 420 of the IPC.
