Hyderabad, November 17: Rachakonda cybercrime police have arrested a man for allegedly harassing a woman by posing as a CID officer and sending indecent messages.

The accused has been identified as Kalla Vinod Kumar (25) from the Rangareddy district. An Android mobile phone with two SIM cards which he used for the commission of the offence was also seized by the police.

Kalla Vinod was addicted to watching porn on his mobile phone. Due to this addiction, he decided to develop friendship and intimacy with unknown women with the help of social media platforms.

Randomly he used to make Whatsapp video calls to unknown numbers without showing his face. If someone accepted his video calls, he used to make sure that it's a female. Later he used to continue to make frequent video calls and harass them. During such attempts, he happened to make a Whatsapp video call to the complainant and sent obscene content to her

The complainant in her complaint stated that she received Whatsapp messages and video calls from an unknown mobile number. From the same number, the accused continuously sent obscene videos and images to her mobile and deleted them after getting confirmed that she had seen those videos.

He introduced himself as a CID officer and asked her to pose nude during video calls. He threatened that if she failed to do so he will upload her morphed nude photos on social media. When the complainant blocked the number, he continued calling from other numbers.

The accused was booked under sections 170, 354 - D, 416, 419, 509 IPC, and Section 67, 67 - A of the IT Act has been produced for judicial custody.
