Hyderabad: Rachakonda police busted an inter-state drug smuggling gang and arrested a 29-year-old woman for peddling 20 kilograms of ganja from Vizag to Mumbai.
Identified as Prameela Mugre, she was allegedly involved in transporting and supplying ganja to the customers.
Police sources said since ganja has a high demand in Mumbai, she hatched a plan to transport the drugs from the Vizag agency to Mumbai.
"She developed contacts with ganja smugglers at Vizag. She also visited a source at Vizag and purchased ganja at Rs.5000 per Kg. She was selling it at Rs 10,000 per KG to customers at Mumbai," said the police.
Two days back Prameela arrived in Vizag from Mumbai and contacted her source at Vizag. She purchased 20 Kg of Ganja from the agents and packed in a travel suitcase.
Later she reached Uppal X road, Hyderabad to catch a bus to Mumbai. Acting on credible information from a reliable source, police intercepted her at the road axis.
During checking, they found 9 packets of Ganja, each weighing approximately 2.25 kilograms.
She was immediately taken into custody and handed over to Uppal police for further investigation.
