Rachakonda police raids 60 pan shops selling rolling papers, books 38 cases

A total of 38 cases were booked against pan shop owners who were selling ganja roller papers, gum stickers which are used in the preparation of ganja cigarettes & pan.

Rachakonda police raids 60 pan shops selling rolling papers, books 38 cases

Hyderabad: A special operation team (SOT) of the Rachakonda police on Sunday raided about 60 pan shops in LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, and Malkajgiri divisions. A total of 38 cases were booked against the shop owners who were selling ganja rolling papers, gum stickers used in the preparation of ganja cigarettes and pan. Zarda, gutka and hookah flavour packets along with hookah pipes and pots were seized.


Cases were booked under sections 188 of the IPC, 70-B of the City Police Act, and the COPTA Act. The cases were booked in LB Nagar, Chaitanyapuri, Saroornagar, Vanasthalipuram, Meerpet, Neredmet, Medipally, Ghatkesar, and Pochampally police stations. The police also warned the 60 pan shop owners against repeating the offence.

FIRs are being prepared in the above cases, the police said.

Around 12 cases were booked in LB Nagar, six each in Chaitanyapuri and Saroornagar, three in Vanasthalipuram, eight in Meerpet, and one each in Neredmet, Medipally, and Ghatkesar.
