Rajasthan man arrested with 4 kg opium in Kushaiguda

Rajasthan man arrested with 4 kg opium in Kushaiguda

Hyderabad: The LB Nagar zone special operations team (SOT) along with the Kushaiguda police busted an interstate drug syndicate and arrested an interstate drug peddler at Radhika crossroads on 1 July. They seized 4 kg opium, Rs. 2 lakhs cash, and other material, all worth Rs. 35 lakhs, from Om Prakash Patel.

The SOT, LB Nagar zone, received a tip-off and they, along with the Kushaiguda police, conducted a raid and apprehended Patel, a resident of Rajasthan who currently resides in Hyderabad.

During interrogation, Patel confessed that he runs a kirana shop called Jagadamba Kirana at Chanda Nagar. He further said he suffered heavy financial loss and was finding it difficult to meet his expenses. He met Giridhar, who is also from Rajasthan, who advised him to sell opium to make money. Giridhar promised to supply the contraband at a reasonable price.

About two months ago, Patel went to Pippad in Rajasthan and procured opium for Rs. 1.30 lakhs per kg from Giridhar. He returned to the city on Friday and kept the opium in his house. Based on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and arrested him.
