Hyderabad: The residence of retired IPS officer Kommi Anandaiah in Prashashan Nagar, Jubilee Hills was burgled on Saturday.

According to the complaint filed at the Jubilee Hills police station, the stolen items included gold ornaments weighing around 300 grams, silver articles weighing around 2 kgs, cash amounting to Rs. 40,000 and 500 US Dollars, and several branded watches.

Kommi Anandaiah (82) and his wife had left for Kakinada on 16 March to stay with their son, who is the municipal commissioner there. They received a call from their driver, who lives in the cellar, informing them of the theft and burglary.

The police were informed immediately and a case has been registered. An investigation is underway.

The Jubilee Hills police said, “We have started the investigation and are trying to gather evidence. We are also examining the CCTV footage from the area. The accused is currently unknown, and we are making all efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.”
