Nizamabad: In a locker belonging to the inspector of Kamareddy police station, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, on 25 November, found Rs 34,40,200 in cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 9,12,800.
The ACB officials, on 21 November, had arrested inspector, I. Jagdish, under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from a resident of Kamareddy towards the release of accused on bail.
On 8 November, the Kamareddy police station registered a case under the Telangana State Gaming Act against a Bathula Sudhakar but he was released from the police station on the same day. The bribe is said to be the reason behind the accused's bail.
The ACB said that the inspector performed public duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage. Searches are being conducted at various places in connection with this case.
During the course of the investigation, it is revealed that Jagdish, and his wife were using the bank locker of Axis Bank, Kamleshwar Branch where this amount was found.
