Rs 8.50 crore worth Alprazolam seized, 3 held in Hyderabad

The Special Operations Team, Cyberabad along with Pet-Basheerabad police nabbed three persons who were involved in the manufacture and supply of the prohibited synthetic drug - Alprazolam.

Rs 8.50 crore worth Alprazolam seized, 3 held in Hyderabad

Hyderabad:The Special Operations Team, Cyberabad along with Pet-Basheerabad police nabbed three persons who were involved in the manufacture and supply of the prohibited synthetic drug - Alprazolam.They recovered about 140 kg of the drug whose market value is about Rs 8.50 crores.

The accused have been identified as Gudikadi Linga Goud (36) from the city, Murududdi Vinod Kumar (27) from Vijayawada, and Maduri Ramakrishna Goud (36) from Medak district.

Linga Goud was a native of Shankarampet mandal in Medak. He did his PhD in organic chemistry and used this knowledge to make synthetic drugs. He started preparing Alphrazolum by procuring raw material from different pharma companies such as Narmada Chemicals at Prashant Nagar and processed the same in the pharma company of his friend Kiran in Vijayawada. Linga Goud has been at this illegal business for five years at a laboratory named Goud Laboratories at Jeedimetla. He and Ramakrishna Goud, a police constable, sold the drugs at local toddy shops.

Based on credible information, the police officials on Sunday stopped a Bolero carrying the drug and seized the contraband. The accused were arrested during the seizure. More drug was found at Ramakrishna's house too.
