Hyderabad: The Telangana Police have unveiled the Safe Village comic book — a community awareness tool designed to educate citizens on preventing exploitation, improving safety practices and identifying risks faced by women and children, particularly in vulnerable or trafficking-prone areas.

Training initiative rolled out

Alongside the release, the Women Safety Wing launched a State-Level Training of Trainers (ToT) programme to strengthen ground-level prevention of human trafficking. The initiative has been developed in collaboration with My Choices Foundation.

Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy and Additional DGP Charu Sinha formally inaugurated the programme during a session attended by field officers and partner organisations.

Rising crimes demand early action

Addressing the gathering, DGP Shivadhar Reddy said the State is witnessing an increase in offences such as voyeurism, flashing, groping, cyber exploitation, child sexual abuse, unsafe migration and trafficking attempts.

He stressed that early community engagement and proactive awareness efforts were critical to preventing these crimes and protecting vulnerable groups.

Curriculum to strengthen field-level teams

The newly developed curriculum will provide structured training modules for officers from Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs), SHE Teams and Bharosa Centres, helping improve coordination, reporting mechanisms and community outreach.

Participants in the first round of training included SHE Team personnel, Bharosa counsellors, AHTU staff, My Choices Foundation trainers and representatives from seven district-level implementing partners.

Pilot deployment in high-risk districts

The programme will initially be implemented in trafficking-prone pockets of Warangal, Khammam, Medak, Rachakonda, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Vikarabad and Mahabubabad.

Expansion to other districts will be based on evaluation reports and field impact assessments.
