Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Jitender has called for regular apex-level coordination meetings to ensure the effective implementation of women’s safety programmes across the Hyderabad region.

Push for scalable and impactful safety measures

Addressing a high-level tri-commissionerate meeting on Tuesday, the DGP urged all stakeholders across Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda commissionerates to collaborate seamlessly.

He noted that consistent, scalable, and impactful execution of women’s safety initiatives was essential to build a safer Telangana for all citizens. “Only through such synergy can we build a truly safer Telangana,” Dr Jitender said.

Tri-commissionerate meeting discusses standardisation

The meeting, organised by the Women Safety Wing of Telangana Police, brought together police commissioners, senior officers, and Security Council members from all three commissionerates.

The focus was on strengthening inter-agency coordination and ensuring uniform implementation of key women’s safety programmes.

‘Project Safe Stay’ to enhance hostel safety

During the discussions, Cyberabad’s ‘Project Safe Stay’, an initiative by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), was recommended for replication in Hyderabad and Rachakonda.

The project audited over 1,000 hostels to ensure safety standards for women residents.

Synchronised services for effective outcomes

Additional DGP, Women Safety Wing, Charu Sinha, highlighted the importance of synchronised operations among the three Security Councils.

She stressed that services such as Bharosa Centres, CDEW family counselling centres, anti-human trafficking units, and She Teams must function in a streamlined and unified manner for efficient service delivery.
