Sanath Nagar man arrested for filming woman secretly in Goa, demanding Rs 30 Lakh

Hyderabad: Sanath Nagar police have registered a case against a man for allegedly extracting money by threatening to leak private videos of a woman taken during her trip to Goa before her marriage.

Trip to Goa turns into a nightmare
According to Sanath Nagar Inspector Srinivasulu, the woman had travelled to Goa in 2023 with a friend before her marriage.
During their stay, accommodation and local arrangements were made by a man identified as Yashwant (40), a resident of Goa. Taking advantage of their trust, the accused secretly recorded private videos of the couple without their knowledge.
Blackmail after victim’s marriage
The woman got married last year and is now leading a settled life. However, recently, the accused contacted her over the phone and began blackmailing her using the secretly recorded videos.
He allegedly demanded Rs 30 lakh, threatening to upload the videos on social media platforms if his demand was not met.
Police action underway
Alarmed by the threats, the victim approached the Sanath Nagar police and filed a complaint. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, including extortion and violation of privacy.
Police have formed a special investigation team and dispatched it to Goa to trace and arrest the accused at the earliest.
