Hyderabad: A bunch of valuable sarees worth Rs 5 lakhs were stolen from the Chennai Shopping Mall, on Patny crossroads in Secunderabad. The incident came to light when Revelli Sridhar, the store supervisor at the mall, filed a complaint with the Mahankali police, on Thursday. Two employees were booked after CCTV footage saw them taking sarees on Thursday. The police are investigating if the same employees were behind the other missing sarees too.
Sridhar, a long-standing employee at the Chennai Shopping Mall, discovered the missing sarees during a routine audit conducted 10 days ago, triggering immediate investigations. Following the audit, the mall administration took proactive measures to monitor their CCTV cameras more closely.
Their efforts bore fruit when, on Thursday morning, two of the mall’s outsourced floor cleaning employees, Bhagya and Lakshmi, were captured on the CCTV cameras stuffing sarees into bags resembling ones used to carry garbage. This raised suspicions that the duo or others in the same department might also be behind the missing sarees in the audit 10 days ago.
A case has been registered under Section 381 of the IPC at Mahankali police station based on the complaint given by Revelli Sridhar and the two employees were booked.
