While two members of the group diverted the attention of the staff, the other two took sarees from the counter without anybody noticing

Sarees worth Rs 8 lakhs stolen at Jubilee Hills Swadesh Store

Hyderabad: Sarees worth almost Rs 8 lakhs were reported stolen at the Swadesh Store in Jubilee Hills on Friday. Praveen, a 34-year-old department manager at the store, filed a complaint at Jubilee Hills police station.

Praveen reported that three women and one transgender person entered the saree section of the Swadesh Store. The store staff attended to the group, showing them various sarees upon request. While two members of the group diverted the attention of the staff, the other two took sarees from the counter without anybody noticing.

After approximately 15 minutes, the group left the store. Upon checking the inventory, the staff discovered four sarees were missing. CCTV footage confirmed that the group had taken the sarees, valued at Rs 7,96,969.

The Jubilee Hills police have registered a case under sections 318(4) and 305(a) of the BNS Act. The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the theft.
