Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a 30-year-old scrap dealer, Nazeer Ahmed, lost his life after a transformer exploded. The incident took place on Monday afternoon while Ahmed was collecting plastic scrap with a friend.

According to the Sanat Nagar police, Ahmed was a resident of Bholakpar and ran a scrap shop. On Monday afternoon, at around 3 p.m., he came to Moosapet HP road to collect plastic scrap and loaded it onto his auto along with his friend.

Suddenly, there was a loud explosion and Ahmed was thrown away due to the impact of the explosion. His legs were smashed, causing him to fall 100 meters away. He collapsed on the ground, bleeding profusely, and lay in a blood pool for over half an hour.

After the incident, witnesses quickly reported it to the police who promptly arrived at the scene. Ahmed was immediately taken to the hospital but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away later that evening. The exact cause of the explosion remains unclear, but some locals speculate that it originated from underground. There is also an electrical transformer near Ahmedā€™s shop. About a one-metre big pit was formed on the ground after the explosion. Further investigations, including excavations, may shed more light on the reasons behind the tragic accident.

Inspector Muthu Yadav of the Sanath police station said the cause of the explosion is still unclear. A case has been registered and is currently under investigation.
