Secunderabad: CBI books railways superintendent, wife in Rs 1.54 Cr disproportionate assets case
Hyderabad: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked a senior official of South Central Railways (SCR) and his wife for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets worth over Rs 1.54 crore.
Accused identified
The official has been identified as R. Raja Sekhar, who served as Superintendent in the Office of the Senior Divisional Personnel Officer (Sr. DPO) at Sanchalan Bhawan, Secunderabad Division. His wife, A. Navaneetha has also been named in the case.
Period of alleged offence
According to sources, a preliminary inquiry revealed that between 2017 and 2023, Raja Sekhar amassed assets amounting to Rs 1,54,75,309, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Searches conducted across Telangana
Following the registration of the FIR on July 7, 2025, CBI teams carried out searches at six locations across Telangana in connection with the case. During the operations, officials seized 29 documents and various material objects related to the investigation.
Concerns over corruption
The case has raised serious concerns about corruption within government departments, particularly in critical sectors such as Railways. The investigation is currently underway, the CBI officials said.
