Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested B Vittal Rao, assistant city planner at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Secunderabad Zone, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 8 lakh from a citizen.
The accused officer demanded the bribe, seeking official clearance for apartment occupancy certificates.
According to ACB officials, Rao initially accepted Rs 4 lakh from the complainant and continued to pressure for the remaining Rs 4 lakh in exchange for processing two occupancy certificate applications. The officer was caught following a formal complaint and was arrested bythe ACB City Range Unit-2.
The accused is being presented before the principal special judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally. The case is under active investigation, according to a press release issued by the ACB officials.
