Hyderabad: As much as 46 kg of Ganja worth more than Rs 11 lakhs was seized from a woman at Secunderabad Railway Station while she was transporting the drugs from Odisha to Maharashtra.

On January 17, around 2 pm, Secunderabad Railway Station GRP and RFF officials were conducting routine checks on platform number 6 when they came across Silpa Naik (27) from Odisha behaving suspiciously.

They checked her belongings and found that her four bags contained 23 packets of dry Ganja each packet weighing about two kg, totalling 46 kg. The total value of the drugs was found to be Rs 11,50,000.

Upon further investigation, Silpa Naik said that she married in 2016 and has a 6-year-old son. Her husband Sharif died in 2018 due to illness and since then, she has been staying with her parents. Since her parents can’t work due to old age, she decided to help her family financially.

She said through a Rajeev Naik she came to know that one can earn more money by supplying Ganja to Mumbai. On January 16, she along with Rajeev Naik, bought 46 kg of Ganja from an unknown person. Further, on the same day, both came to Palasa Railway station with the bags of Ganja, took general tickets separately and boarded the Falaknuma Express train.

When they reached Secunderabad Railway station they got down to wait for Devagiri Express train to reach Mumbai. Rajeev Naik went out to get lunch by leaving her with the Ganja bags and she was eventually caught. Rajeev is absconding.

A case has been registered and an investigation is on.
